Is this concealer really worth all the hype?? I had tried all types of concealers, whether they were drug store products or high-end brands…anything I could get my hands on to cover up my dark circles. I needed something that would last all day, not crease, full coverage, light weight, etc… the list can go on forever! So a month or two after the shape tape concealer came out, I figured I’d might as well give it a try. Unfortunately, Sephora, my all time favorite makeup store, doesn’t carry this concealer. This was disappointing because they offer the Tarte cosmetics line, so why not this product? I headed over to Ulta Beauty, and got matched with the shade that went well with my skin tone. The product was released in 2016, and I’ve been using it ever since! It is the holy grail of all concealers. I have combination skin and really dry skin in the winter. This product did not over dry, and stays on all day! I did notice a technique to applying it, which should give all the “missers” a second go on this concealer.
The best way to use this product is to apply it on top of your foundation. When applying, apply section by section, blending with a beauty blender before you move on. It’s important to blend as you apply because it is going to set before you get a chance to blend, so you want to make sure you’re not leaving it on for too long. The trick to applying it is that once you apply it to a section (under eye for example), let it sit on the skin for no more than 7 seconds. While it is sitting on the skin, fan the area with your hand, and then blend away. This lets the product set just enough to give a full coverage! After I apply it to the desired areas, I set it with the Laura Mercier translucent powder(not to mention another favorite of mine!) and bake for about a minute or two.
This will last all day, and the coverage is so good, you wouldn’t even think about getting under eye fillers!
